This course will survey the range of literature and materials available to children. Criteria for selection, evaluation and use of these materials will also be explored. Investigations of the major genres of children's literature will allow for a thorough understanding of not only the distinctions of that genre, but also the benefits and considerations of the genre in literacy development and appreciation.
