This course familiarizes students with the utility construction service industry, including independent and team operations and customer service. DOT must be informed of work in the State Highway Right-of-Way to notify the public of possible delays, as required by regulations. Students track construction progress using spreadsheets and provide operational status reports. The course covers utility system layouts, construction and installation methods, manholes and vaults, facility termination, aboveground indicators, abandoned facilities, access points, and print reading concepts.
