In this course, students explore characteristics, basic care, illness, and treatment of numerous animal species. Half of the course is dedicated to animals that may be encountered in research settings and/or kept as pets, and half of the course is dedicated to large/production animals. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to provide basic husbandry and medical care to laboratory and exotic animals (such as rabbits, rodents, birds and reptiles), as well as large animals (such as horses, ruminants and camelids).
