This course introduces students to the operation of CNC mills and lathes with an emphasis on tool selection, custom fixtures, and work holding devices such as 4th-axis attachments, 4-jaw chucks, collets, and tailstocks. Instruction includes the use of canned cycles and the basics of conversational programming. Students will practice setting positive tool offsets and measuring tools within and out of the machine. Learners will gain experience in setting up projects, loading and editing programs, and making tooling or programming adjustments to complete required parts independently.
